HURL Elkhorn takes place in the Elkhorn Mountains near Helena, MT on Saturday, Aug 1, 2026. The event offers three distances:

All races start and finish at the Willard Creek Trailhead at the end of Forest Service Road 4014. The courses are entirely off-pavement on dirt trails, jeep roads and forest service roads. Trail sections are closed to motorized vehicles.

50 Mile: The course includes about 37 miles of technical single track, about 13 miles of primitive or double-track jeep road and about 1 mile of maintained dirt forest service road. Organizers list approximately 13,400 feet of elevation gain and a maximum elevation just under 9,000 feet. There are 8 aid stations on course; the longest distance between aid stations is 7 miles.
50K: The route contains roughly 27 miles of technical single track and about 3 miles of primitive or double-track jeep road. Organizers list approximately 7,900 feet of elevation gain and a maximum elevation near 8,000 feet. There are 5 aid stations; the longest gap between stations is 8 miles.
13.1 Mile: The half-marathon is on 100% technical single track with several creek crossings, about 3,300 feet of elevation gain and maximum elevation around 7,200 feet. There are 2 aid stations; the longest gap between stations is 6 miles.
