Die to Run: Last Person Standing

Die to Run: Last Person Standing is an endurance event on May 15, 2027 at Hatbox Sports Complex in Muskogee, Oklahoma. The format combines a backyard ultra style with a game element: every hour a six-sided die is rolled to decide the next loop distance.

Five minutes before each hour the die is rolled live. Runners head out on a flat paved out and back course and must return to the main corral within a 60 minute cutoff to remain in the race. Each hour the turnaround point can change according to the roll, and runners must reach the designated turnaround for that hour.

Possible loop distances and remapping rules:

  • 1–6 miles possible each hour
  • After 6 hours a roll of 1 becomes 3 miles
  • After 12 hours a roll of 2 becomes 4 miles
  • After 18 hours a roll of 3 becomes 5 miles
  • After 24 hours a roll of 4 becomes 6 miles

Crew support is allowed from a designated base camp area; crews may not assist runners on the course. Personal aid on the course is not allowed, but aid is available at the main race area. The event proceeds rain or shine unless conditions are unsafe; the race director has final authority. Every finisher receives a solid cedar 3.5" × 3.5" wooden die engraved on site with their name and mileage. Registration is non refundable and non transferable.
