Diamond City Mountain Relay

The Diamond City Mountain Relay is the seventh annual three day running relay held July 10 to 12, 2026 in the Big Belt and Little Belt Mountains of Montana. The event covers roughly 215 miles on dirt roads and single track through mountain terrain.

Teams of 6 to 12 people complete a series of relay legs of set distance. Most legs are 3 to 5 miles. Every team member is required to run at least one leg each day. Each team operates two support vehicles that follow runners and drop them at designated exchange zones.

The route is organized into three day stages. Day 1 runs from Townsend to White Sulphur Springs. Day 2 runs from the White Sulphur Springs area toward Monarch. Day 3 runs from the Belt area to Diamond City. The course passes through Broadwater, Meagher, and Cascade counties. Eating, drinking, and overnight arrangements take place in Townsend and White Sulphur Springs.
