Dead Night Pines Trail Run

Dead Night Pines Trail Run takes place at Tyler State Park in Tyler, Texas (789 Park Rd 16). The event is a night trail race held on rooty and dirt single track trails through East Texas pine forest. The course uses the park trail network and features rolling hills, with an elevation report showing about 900 feet per eight mile loop.

Available distances:

  • 13K
  • 25K

  • 50K
  • 13K Ruck

The event requires a headlamp for all distances and a water carrying system with a minimum 16 ounce capacity because the race is no cup. Ruck entrants must meet weight requirements: runners 150 lb or less carry 20 lb; runners above 150 lb carry 30 lb. Aid and water stations are placed on the loop, including a main aid station at the start/finish and additional stations at approximately mile 3.6 and mile 5.5. Water only is available at designated water stations; aid stations offer food, electrolytes, pickle juice and ice.

No drop bags will be shipped due to the short loop. All participants must purchase a state park day pass before the event. Finishers receive a race medal and a T shirt; first place male and female trophies are awarded for each distance. There are also event specific ruck and last place recognitions.
