Dead Night Pines Trail Run (Tyler State Park, July 18, 2026)
Dead Night Pines is a night trail running event held on the Tyler State Park trail system. Distances are run on rooty and dirt single track trails through East Texas pine woods. The course uses an approximately 8-mile loop with about 900 feet of elevation per loop, featuring rolling hills. Historic average temperatures for the date range are about 76 to 86 degrees.
Mandatory equipment and rules include a headlamp for all distances and a minimum 16-ounce water-carrying system because the event is a no-cup race. There is a 9-hour cutoff for all events. Participants must purchase a day pass from the state park before the event.
Aid stations are located on the loop and at the start/finish. Water-only stations and fuller aid stations are listed by mile marker; aid stations provide hot and cold foods, snacks, water, electrolytes, pickle juice, and ice. No drop bags will be shipped due to the short loop. Participants who withdraw early must notify race staff at the start/finish area. Rules include no littering and no cutting the course.
Awards and participant items include a finisher medal and shirt for all distances, first-place male and female trophies for each distance, a 13K ruck patch, and a DFL award for the 50K. Camping is available at Tyler State Park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
