Dash through the Hills is a charity trail run and walk held at Hardware Hills Vineyard in Scottsville, VA (5199 W River Rd, Scottsville, VA 24590). The event explores the vineyard property and a pathway to the adjacent historic Hardware River. The course includes an inclined gravel drive, grassy hills, a sloping drop to the river and return, and winding paths through the vineyard that pass winter vines. The finish area is at the tasting room.

  • ~5K (3.1 miles) run portion
  • ~1.1 miles walk portion

There are four event options: Trail and Vineyard Trek with Wine, Vineyard Walk with Wine, Trail and Vineyard Trek no wine, and Vineyard Walk no wine. Wine will be available to participants aged 21 and over for the wine-designated events.

Logistics and policies

Pre-registration fees are listed as $50, $45, $30, and $30 for the different event options; a single-day registration fee of $50 is noted with no t-shirt guarantee. T-shirts are guaranteed for preregistered participants by the stated cutoff. A food truck will be on site and live local music is planned. Water will be available; wine is provided for those registered for the wine events.

The event requests donations and partners with the Monticello Area Community Action Agency. Pets, strollers, and outside alcohol are not permitted on the property. Management may cancel or alter the event for safety in case of inclement weather; entry fees are nonrefundable and race insurance is offered.
