Dartmoor Granite 50

The Dartmoor Granite 50 is a long-distance trail race that follows the eastern section of the Dartmoor Way, running from Scoriton to Okehampton. The course covers approximately 51 miles across moorland, woodland and country lanes and includes more than 2000 metres of ascent over sometimes rugged and boggy terrain.

The event is fully supported with three indoor checkpoints offering hot food and refreshments plus an additional water stop. Competitors are tracked by GPS and GPX route files are provided. Finishers receive a bespoke medal and top placings are awarded locally made trophies.

Entry requires evidence of recent trail marathon experience and competence or intention to gain night navigation skills. Minimum age is 21. There is a maximum time allowance of 15 hours to complete the course.

The event provides changing and shower facilities, weekend parking and on-site catering at the event centre. A coach transfer option from the finish to the start is available for purchase. Professional medical support and checkpoint staffing are provided throughout the route.

A compulsory race kit is inspected at registration. Required items include a backpack, full waterproof jacket and over-trousers, headtorch and spare batteries, capacity to carry at least 1 litre of fluid, emergency food (minimum 500 calories), emergency foil blanket, warm hat and gloves, plastic cup and mobile phone.
