Dark Valley, Night Trails

Dark Valley Night Trails is a night-time trail running event at Moors Valley Country Park, Horton Road, Ringwood, Dorset BH24 2ET. The route uses a 10 km loop on wide, tree-lined paths through the forest, marked with fluorescent directional markers on a fully signed course. Runners use headtorches or chest torches to navigate under the night sky.

The event offers lap options to cover different distances. Distances and entry prices are:

  • 10 km: £34
  • 20 km: £40
  • 30 km: £46

Registration is handled from a registration tent on site where race bibs are collected. A bag drop tent will be available during the event. A well stocked aid station is located on course and there are on-course photographers. Organisers advise runners to carry appropriate clothing for winter conditions and to bring a backup torch if possible. Competitors are also advised to download the GPX file of the route for navigation because course arrows can be tampered with.

Cut-off times apply to the longer options: the 20 km course has a three hour cut off and the 30 km course has a four and a half hour cut off; the 10 km has no cut off. Car parking is in the main Moors Valley Country Park car park and is free. Runners can opt to have a tree planted instead of a finishers medal through the Trees Not Tees scheme.
