Dark Hollow Wallow

The Dark Hollow Wallow is a trail running event offering three distances: an 11 Mile, a 5 Mile, and a Kids Trail Mile. It takes place at Big Ridge State Park on State Highway 61, located between Norris and Maynardville.

The event is part of the Treadin' Trodden Trails (TTT) series. Runners can register for individual events or for a series season pass. The 11 Mile course is described as going through historic, muddy terrain and includes hills. The 5 Mile course is shorter but follows a similar, challenging trail. The Kids Trail Mile starts before the main races.

Aid and water stations are provided on the course, but runners are encouraged to carry their own water. The organizer enforces an 18-minute-per-mile minimum pace for the adult races and employs a sweeper. Participants under 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult for the 11 Mile or 5 Mile events. For safety and logistical reasons, participants are asked not to take a race bib if they are not running, and to notify an official if they drop out.

Participation in the TTT series awards Grand Prix points, with the 11 Mile awarding full points and the 5 Mile awarding half points. To qualify for series awards, runners must be members of the Knoxville Track Club (KTC) and volunteer at two events during the season. A limited-edition T-shirt is available for series participants. The event does not allow refunds or bib transfers. Use of headphones, bicycles, strollers, roller blades, or pets on the course is prohibited.
