Dargle Four Peaks

Dargle Four Peaks is an open mountain race in County Wicklow that requires competitors to visit four summits in the upper Dargle Valley: Djouce, War Hill, Tonduff and Maulin. The course covers 15.00 km with about 800 m of ascent. The route is not marked and competitors may choose their own peak sequence, direction and lines.

Navigation must be self-led. A map and compass may be used; GPS navigation is not permitted. Using an electronic device to navigate during the race requires declaring oneself non-competitive and returning to the finish by the shortest safe route. The event is part of the Leinster Championship.

Mandatory kit is Level C - Advanced and includes a waterproof jacket with hood and taped seams, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, charged mobile phone with emergency number, foil blanket or bivvy, waterproof full leg cover, means to carry at least 500 mL of water, emergency food, map and compass. The final kit to be carried may be confirmed on the day and random kit checks may be carried out.

Under an agreement with Wicklow Mountains National Park, an alternative wet-weather route may be used to protect vulnerable open-mountain sections; the decision may be confirmed during the week after entries open.

Entries open 27 April 2026 and close 1 May 2026. Entry fees are €7 for seniors and €5 for over 65s and under 18s. Start and finish are at Boleyhorrigan and parking is on the R759 opposite Pier Gates; allow about 25 minutes to travel from the main car park to the registration area on foot.
