Cwmdu

Cwmdu is a fell race based at Cwmdu Village Hall, NP8 1RW, near Crickhowell (GR 180240). The course covers 15.9 km / 9.9 mi with 920 m / 3018 ft of ascent and is part of the South Wales Series. Navigational skills and significant fell-running experience are required. Full kit must be worn or carried and a strict kit inspection will be carried out. Minimum age is over 18. No dogs are allowed.

The route starts on the lane by the village hall, follows a short lane and then a path behind a gate up a steep section to the ridge of Pen Tir. Runners continue to the crest past a cairn at the col (CP1), proceed west to Mynydd Llangorse (CP2), then north and down to cross the road. There is a steep climb to Mynydd Troed summit (CP3) followed by a south-east descent along its ridge. The route continues off the ridge, down through fields via farm gates (CP4) to the road, then through a sequence of gates and a short pull back up to the cairn passed earlier (CP5). The final section retraces the descent off Pen Tir back to the village hall.

Parking is limited and car sharing is suggested. Entry fees vary by membership; on-the-day entry is available at a higher fee and the entry price includes tea and cakes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
