Event Details

The event is a guided, multi-day ultra running journey along the Cumbria Way in the Lake District. The total route is 71 miles (112 km) with an elevation gain of 2,950m (9,700ft). It takes place over three days in June.

The Route

The journey runs from Ulverston to Carlisle, staying in different locations each night. The first day covers 27 miles (48 km) from Ulverston to the Langdale Valley, passing Coniston Water and Tarn Hows. The second day is 20 miles (32 km) from Great Langdale to Keswick, crossing Stake Pass and passing Derwent Water. The final day is 26 miles (42 km) from Keswick to Carlisle, passing through Skiddaw Forest and over High Pike.

What's Included

The price covers guided running, three nights of shared accommodation, luggage transfers between stages, and entry to one guided ultra run for preparation. The group is small, with limited spaces. Participants must meet certain fitness criteria and be able to run on trail terrain at a specified pace.

Logistics

Participants meet in Ulverston. Accommodation is provided in bunkhouses and a location in Carlisle. Breakfast is included; dinners and other meals are not. Travel to the start and from the finish is the participant's responsibility. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.

Tackle the Grisedale Grind, a steep 4 km Lake District fell race with a testing 480 m ascent that rewards gutsy climbs. Entry on the day for £7 cash, juniors welcome at Revelin Moss opposite Whinlatter Visitor Centre.

A mountain running event of about 40 miles in the Lake District, taking in Helvellyn, High Street and other summits. The figure of eight route has a 27 miles short option, is limited to 50 starters and requires full mountain kit.

Experience the Newlands Valley Horseshoe at this Category AL fell race near Keswick. Traverse 24.7 km of exposed peaks and over 2300 meters of elevation in the heart of the Lake District.

An 11.5 mile fell race around the Newlands fells on 18 April 2026, based at Newlands Adventure Centre in Keswick. Entry is limited to 500 and runners must carry mandatory mountain running kit with pre entry required.
