Crooked Creek Ultra Trail Race

The Crooked Creek Ultra Trail Race takes place at the Harry S. Frazier Scout Reservation in Shepherdsville, Kentucky. The event is hosted at Camp Crooked Creek, a 1,000-acre site featuring rolling hills and forests of oak, hickory, and beech trees. The course is situated within Bourbon Country and utilizes trails that are typically closed to the general public.

The primary race course consists of a 12.7-mile trail loop with more than 2,300 feet of elevation gain per lap. The start and finish area is located near the 70-acre John Barr Lake, where a runner's village is established. Participants in the longer distances have access to a designated area for support tents and a "Pit Road" where support teams can meet runners at two different points during each loop. Facilities on-site include heated shower houses and restrooms.

Available distances and challenges include:

  • 100 Miles: Eight laps of the main loop with a 36-hour time limit.
  • 50 Miles: Four laps of the main loop with a 16-hour time limit.
  • 26.2 Miles: Two laps of a revised 13.1-mile loop, offered on Saturday morning, Saturday night, or Sunday morning.
  • 13.1 Miles: One lap of a revised loop, offered on Saturday morning, Saturday night, or Sunday morning.
  • Triple Play: A challenge to complete three marathon or three half marathon events over the weekend.
  • 5K Challenge: A shorter trail run held on Saturday or Sunday.

Participants must be 18 years of age or older, though age exemptions may be requested from the organizers. The venue offers various lodging options including primitive camping and unheated cabins. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
