Event

The Cpl. Fulks Memorial Trail Race is scheduled for Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Meeks Mountain Trails in Hurricane City Park. The event includes the following distances:

  • 5K Run
  • 10K Run
  • 5K Walk
  • 5K Ruck

Proceeds will contribute to a scholarship fund in honor of Cpl. William B. Fulks and will support a local Marine Corps League Detachment in its work serving veterans.

Logistics and race details

Entry fees listed for the events are $35 for the 5K Run, $35 for the 10K Run, $30 for the 5K Walk, and $35 for the 5K Ruck. Online registration is offered at a discounted price; race day registration is available for $40. Registration closes on May 7, 2026.

All participants receive T-shirts, participation medals, and swag bags. The start and finish area is by the Huntington Federal Shelter at the back of the bowl; this shelter is about a 10-minute walk from the Hurricane City Park parking lot. Signs and volunteers will direct participants between the parking area and the start/finish. Portable restrooms will be available at the start/finish. The 5K Ruck requires a rucksack with a weight plate or equivalent - 30 lb for men and 20 lb for women. Crossing guards will assist at the nearby railroad tracks. Take on the Frozen Sasquatch at Kanawha State Forest this January, with 25K and 50K loop options across scenic single track. Expect snow, ice and steep climbs for a true cold weather trail challenge.

Run the rugged Meeks Mountain single track at the MMTA Crush Run in Hurricane WV with 10 mile, 5k and kids distances. Proceeds benefit the Meeks Mountain Trail Alliance and every finisher earns swag and a finisher award.

Run the Hurricane Hundred K on Meeks Mountain Trails, a rugged 100K on 10.3 mile single track loops with big climbing and two aid stations. Solo and three person relay options, limited to 150 runners for a wild fall challenge.
