Coombabah Trail Run
Coombabah Trail Run is a community trail running and walking event held in the Coombabah Lakelands Conservation Area on the Gold Coast, Queensland. The start and finish are located at the main entrance of the reserve, opposite the Southport Airfield on Shelter Road (Koala Trail). The organisers are local runners and residents who limit entries to keep the event small and personal.
Available distances:
- 12.5 km
- 5.5 km
Registration opens before the event and each entrant receives a race number/bib and a Coombabah Trail Run logoed visor or bucket hat. A fully equipped paramedical team is on site during the event. At the finish participants are given something sweet and a drink.
Prizes and draws include YETI custom drinkware and a selection of Specialized T-shirts with an embroidered Coombabah Trail Run logo. From 2025 one entrant will be selected for the Papatowai Challenge in Otago, New Zealand; that prize includes event entries, accommodation for two people and transport for the weekend and is drawn from entries across the three yearly events. The wetlands in the reserve form part of the Southern Moreton Bay Marine Park and are registered under the Ramsar Convention on wetlands of international importance.
