Coombabah Trail Run : Event details

The Coombabah Trail Run is scheduled for 5/10/2025 in Coombabah, Queensland. The event uses the Koala Trail with the start and finish at the main entrance of the reserve on Shelter Road, opposite the Southport Airfield. Two course options are offered:

  • 12.5 km
  • 4.8 km

Each entrant receives a race number/bib and a CTR logoed multifunctional head/neck tube (buff). The first 50 entries receive a sponsor-branded tote bag made from 100% recycled, unbleached cotton. At the finish participants receive a small food item and a cold drink. A fully equipped paramedical team will be on site during the race. Prize details are listed as to be announced.

Organisation and venue

The event is organised by local runners and residents who use the Coombabah Lake Conservation Area for running and biking. The Coombabah wetlands form part of the Southern Moreton Bay Marine Park and are registered under the Ramsar Convention on wetlands of international importance. Organisers state they limit entries to keep event numbers small and maintain a low-impact experience. Organisers plan a 2026 prize that will send one runner to the Papatowai Challenge in Otago, New Zealand; that prize will include event entry and weekend accommodation and will be drawn from entries across all three 2025 events.
