Coldwater In Your Veins
North Ogden, United States • 30 May 2026
Event
Coldwater In Your Veins is a last-person-standing loop race held at the Horse Corral at Coldwater Canyon in North Ogden, UT. The format repeats the same loop every two hours until fewer than two runners start a loop or all remaining runners fail to meet the start or time rules. The race uses a pavilion and horse arena at the start/finish area and provides water, electrolytes, and basic supplies at the pavilion.
Format and course
The loop measures 7.7 miles and includes about 1,200 feet of vertical gain per lap, with most climbing occurring in the first 2.5 miles. The course runs clockwise on odd-numbered laps and counterclockwise on even-numbered laps. Rules include no external pacers or outside aid beyond what a runner carries or receives from another competitor. A runner who does not return to the runners corral before the next loop start or who exceeds the two-hour lap limit is marked DNF. The race requires at least two runners to start each loop for the event to continue; the winner must complete the last loop that the second-place runner does not complete.
Typical distance/vertical totals by elapsed time:
- 6 laps: 46.38 miles, 7,512 feet vertical
- 12 laps: 92.76 miles, 15,024 feet vertical
Support and logistics
The venue offers a pavilion, bathrooms with running water, and a reserved 10x10-foot spot in the horse arena for tents or canopies. Crews are allowed in the pavilion area. The surface is soft and sandy; organizers note that stakes alone may not secure canopies in windy conditions and recommend bringing adequate weights.
