Coal Miner in Roslyn, WA

This trail ultramarathon is based in Roslyn, Washington and lists two distances:

  • 50 Miler
  • 100 Miler

The primary published course is 51.3 miles with between 10,100 and 11,300 feet of climb, depending on mapping software. The route links Cle Elum Ridge with Sasse Ridge, summits Hex, Sasse and Jolly Mountains, then descends Jolly Creek to the Middle Fork of the Teanaway River before following the river toward its confluence and returning via the Big Sandy Trails to Cle Elum Ridge and Roslyn.

The event emphasizes self reliance. There are minimal aid offerings: water and basic caloric items. The route has no course markings; GPX tracks are emailed at least one week before the event and entrants must pre load them into their chosen map app and use them to navigate. Aid stations are located at approximately miles 9.9, 19.3, 33.3 and 38.6.

Entry requirements include naming a prior hard trail 100k or longer and carrying an inReach or similar satellite messenger with an active subscription. Official finish validation depends on GPS track submission and required summit selfies at Jolly Mountain and other specified points. The event notes a 16 hour total cutoff for the listed course. The start is at the southeast corner of Roslyn Pioneer Park where a bathroom is adjacent. Organizers offer a full refund if an entrant is not completely satisfied. Surprise swag is distributed from the course and sponsors are not confirmed. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
