Clock of Doom 50K

Davidson, United States • 9 May 2026

The Race

The Clock of Doom is a 50-kilometer running event broken into ten segments. It consists of nine 3-mile segments and one 4-mile segment. A "Doom Time" is randomly selected for each segment, which is the countdown time runners must beat to finish that part of the course.

The Rules

Before each segment, a Doom Time is selected. All runners start the segment together, and a clock counts down from that time. Any runner who does not complete the segment before the clock reaches zero is eliminated. A runner's time for each completed segment is recorded, and these times are added together for a final total time. The winner is the runner with the lowest total time who completes all ten segments. Awards are given for overall winners and within age groups.

The Details

The Doom Times for the 3-mile segments are randomly chosen from: 30, 33, 35, 38, 40, 43, 45, 48, and 50 minutes. Each time is used only once. The 4-mile segment, called The Hills of Mayhem, has a Doom Time of one hour.

The Course

The 3-mile segments take place on a flat, paved, out-and-back greenway. The 4-mile Hills of Mayhem segment is a hilly, paved loop. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
