Cirque Series - Killington

The Cirque Series - Killington is a mountain running event held within the Green Mountain National Forest in Vermont. The race is capped at 700 participants and features a course that utilizes the diverse terrain of the Killington Resort.

The event consists of a single distance:

  • 8.2 miles (13.2 km) with 3,010 feet of vertical gain.

The route begins at the base of the K-1 Gondola and proceeds in a counter-clockwise direction. Participants ascend service roads to reach Snowden Peak at an elevation of 3,592 feet. The course continues along the Great Northern Trail and the Catwalk to reach the summit of Killington Peak, the highest point of the race at 4,242 feet. A strict 1.5-hour cutoff time is enforced at the Killington Peak summit; those who do not meet the limit must take the chairlift down.

The descent follows various service and jeep roads, passing through Bear Mountain Peak. The final segment includes a steep quarter-mile climb known as Needle's Eye, which features a 45% grade, before a final descent back to the K1 base area. The terrain includes rocky, grassy, and potentially wet or slippery sections. Two aid stations are located along the path at Mile 3.16 and Mile 6.6.

Registration is divided into three categories: Sport, Expert, and Pro. Participants receive a snapback hat, a logoed bib, a medal, and a sponsor swag bag. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
