Event details

The Christmas Cracker takes place at Newlands Corner on Sunday 7th December. The event includes a family Pant-O score-orienteering and colour-coded Orange, Green and Blue courses. Car sharing is available. Guildford Orienteers will provide assistance, guidance and festive refreshments.

Non-BOF member supplement on colour courses only: Senior £2, Junior/Student £1. SI dibber hire £1. Late fees apply on colour courses from 1 December. Juniors are defined as under 21 on 31 December 2025.

Pant-O format and rules

The Pant-O is a 45-minute score event. Individuals or teams may enter; a team may have up to four people with a maximum of two M/W18+ in each team. Teams register on the day. No electronic dibbers are required for the Pant-O; a pen, paper and a watch are recommended for each team member. Teams receive maps and may stay together or split to visit controls.

Scoring: teams try to find character controls to answer pantomime questions. The pantomimes include Treasure Island, Cinderella, Robin Hood, Alice in Wonderland and Aladdin. Each correct character placement scores 1 point, up to 3 per pantomime. A penalty of 1 point is deducted for each minute or part minute over 45 minutes.
