What is a Rogaine?

A Rogaine is a navigation-based event where participants use a map and compass to find checkpoints within a time limit. There is no marked course.

Event Details

The CheNarr Rogaine is an 8-hour navigation race taking place on Saturday, March 7, 2026. This is the event's fourth year and it is co-hosted by HardWin Adventures and the Nashville Orienteering Club. The course is an unmarked trekking route within the Cheatham Wildlife Management Area in Pegram, Tennessee.

How It Works

Teams, or solo participants, are given a map and must locate as many checkpoints as possible. The first and last checkpoints are mandatory to ensure safe passage through the event's private land access point; visiting these two points qualifies a team as an official finisher. The winner is the team that finds the most checkpoints before returning to the start. Ties are broken by the fastest finish time.

Late penalties apply: teams lose one checkpoint for finishing after the cutoff time, and an additional checkpoint for every five minutes thereafter.

Divisions and Gear

The event has categories for co-ed, all-male, and all-female teams, as well as male and female solo divisions. Participants must carry mandatory gear, including a compass, a whistle, a headlamp, a first aid kit, and a minimum 70 oz water capacity. A GPS tracker for safety and live spectator tracking is provided per team.

GPS devices that can display maps or coordinates are prohibited, though certain GPS watches with a certified Adventure Race mode are permitted after verification.

A custom award is given to the winning team in each category and to any solo or team finishing in the top three overall.

Location and Registration

The event starts and finishes at 2150 Sams Creek Road in Pegram, Tennessee. Registration costs $75 per racer. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
