Chase the Sun Track Ultra

Chase the Sun is a track ultra held on June 13, 2026 at the Russell High School 400 m outdoor track. The surface is a standard 400 m track and the race changes direction every three hours.

The event offers two six hour sessions, a Sunrise to Sunset option, and relay teams with one member on the track at a time. Official lap counting records distance and splits; 1 lap equals 400 m on the inner lane. Timing and lap counting are provided by CS Timing and final results are based on the official lap count.

Aid stations provide breakfast, lunch, supper and classic aid station snacks, plus electrolytes, water and coffee. Spaces are available along the track for crew tents and tables. Participant items include a t shirt, finisher certificate showing laps, splits and distances, and finisher awards. Special awards recognize top male and female performers and relay distances; 100 mile finishers receive a custom belt buckle.

Track rules cover lane use, direction change procedure, designated aid access, and etiquette such as keeping the track clean and returning to the same spot after breaks. The event is not eligible for national records. A minimum of 20 paid solo registrants is required by May 15, 2026 or the event will be cancelled.
