Event

The South Downs Way 50km is a non-stop foot race organised by Centurion Running on 13 June 2026. The race distance is 50 km (31 mi). It is part of the World Trail Majors - Short Series and is the second annual running of this event. The minimum age to enter is 20 and the event field is listed as 400 starters. Entries open 12 July 2025 and close 5 June 2026.

Course and support

The route starts at Matterley Bowl, just outside Winchester, and finishes in the event field at Queen Elizabeth Country Park. Most of the course follows the South Downs Way National Trail and the route sits entirely within the South Downs National Park. Terrain is listed as 80% trail and 20% road, with approximately 4000 ft (1200 m) of climb. The event uses a fully marked course and offers four stocked aid stations, full medical support, finish line food and hot drinks. There is a 9 hour overall cut-off. Rules, kit and logistics

Pacers and crew are not permitted. Runners may deposit a finish bag at registration (maximum 50 litres). Mandatory kit includes a charged mobile phone, water capacity of at least 1 litre, a survival blanket (minimum 1.4 m x 2 m), a waterproof jacket with sealed seams and a cup.
