South Downs Way 50km
The South Downs Way 50km is a non-stop foot race held within the South Downs National Park. This event, which is in its second year, is part of the World Trail Majors - Short Series. The course follows a point-to-point route through the Western section of the South Downs, starting at the Matterley Bowl near Winchester and concluding at Queen Elizabeth Country Park.
The route primarily utilizes the South Downs Way National Trail, traversing a chalk ridgeway. The terrain features rolling hills and passes by various landmarks including ancient forts and rural villages. Participants experience views stretching north across the Weald and south toward the coast and the English Channel. The finish line is located in the Event Field at the base of a descent from Butser Hill.

Participants must be at least 20 years old to enter. The event is fully marked and provides medical support. There are four stocked aid stations along the course to support runners throughout the journey. A 9 hour cut-off time is in place for the completion of the race.
