Cat Lane Canter 2026
The Cat Lane Canter is a trail running event based at Newfield School in Norton Lees. The route uses undulating footpaths and trods through bluebell woodlands between Newfield School and Cat Lane, and can become muddy in wet conditions. The course is hilly and may register under 10k on some GPS devices.
Distances offered:
- 10k - entrants aged 14 years or older
- 5k - entrants aged 10 years or older
Entrants under 18 require parental consent. Children aged 10 to 11 must be accompanied by a parent or other responsible adult who has entered the run. New junior prize categories are listed for under 13s, under 15s, under 17s and under 19s, based on age at 31 August 2026.
The event is jointly organised by three parent-teacher associations and raises funds for those PTAs. It relies on volunteer marshals; the course closes after 1 hour and 30 minutes. Organisers encourage low-impact travel and reusable bottles; parking at Newfield School is limited and carsharing is suggested. Refreshments and food stalls will be available on the day, and a pre-order option for a bacon, sausage or vegan sausage butty is offered with entries. On-the-day entries may be available at a higher fee if the race is not full. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
