Carsington Hill Race

The Carsington Hill Race is an evening fell race held in Carsington Village. The event takes place on a Friday as part of the Carsington and Hopton Village Festival. The course covers 9.5 km (6 miles) with a total ascent of 230 meters (775 feet).

The route traverses varied terrain, including ancient mined landscapes and areas with modern turbines on Carsington Pasture. It features technical sections such as steep hills, rough pasture, footpaths, and tracks. There are also two road crossings during the race and a downhill finish. Participants can view the Peak District and Carsington Water from the course.

The race adheres to Fell Runners Association (FRA) rules. Registration and post-event amenities are located at the pavilion on the school field at Back Lane. These amenities include food, cake, and a bar for participants.
