Carolina Reaper Challenge

The Carolina Reaper Challenge takes place at the Riverwest Nature Preserve in Greenville, South Carolina. This event is held in July and utilizes the grounds of a former golf course, featuring a course with rolling hills, wooden bridges, and views of the river and waterfalls.

The race follows a loop format on a 2.62 mile (approximately 4.2 km) paved path. Participants must complete each lap within a 45-minute time limit. The event includes several distance options based on the number of completed loops:

  • 50 km - 12 loops
  • Relay (2-4 runners) - 12 loops
  • Half Marathon - 5 loops
  • 5 Miles - 2 loops

The venue includes an athlete village and staging area located between the start and finish lines. Runners are permitted to set up 10x10 canopies, coolers, and chairs in this central hub. Parking is located approximately 150 meters from the staging area, with a designated drop-off zone available for gear.

This is a cup-less event, and participants are required to bring their own hydration vessels. An aid station at the start and finish line provides water, soda, and snacks such as pickles, cookies, and chips. Registration includes chip timing with lap splits, a finisher medal, and professional race photos. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
