Carlam Ceiriog Canter

The Carlam Ceiriog Canter is an annual fell race held at the Canolfan Ceiriog Centre in Glyn Ceiriog. The 2026 edition is scheduled for 26th September 2026 and is organised as a Category BM B Medium event. The advertised distance is 11.6 km (7.2 miles) with a total climb of 425 m (1395 ft).

The course climbs from the village onto moorland and returns toward the centre, incorporating upland terrain and forest tracks. A map will be provided to competitors. Race organisers note that competitors should be prepared to carry appropriate kit recommended by the WFRA; items listed include windproof full body cover, other clothing suitable for the weather, a compass, whistle and a map. Carrying this kit may be required if conditions are very poor.

Entry information for the event states registration opens from 1pm with a £6 entry payable on the day. The minimum age for entry is 18 and there is no junior race.

Facilities at the centre include fresh soup, homemade cakes, refreshments and showers with changing facilities available throughout the event. A new 50K route from Telford Town Park to Shrewsbury that visits multiple historic Shropshire sites. The event includes chip timing, five nutrition stations, measured routes, free photos and a special series-linking segment medal.

A point to point race of about 5 miles along river paths and the canal towpath on 17 May 2026, organised by Maldwyn Harriers. The course finishes at Abermule Community Centre and includes refreshments and awards.

A 6.5 km hill run from Trefonen Village Hall with 150 m of ascent, mixed farmland, woods and country lanes. The partly waymarked course includes varied underfoot conditions and a trig point on Mynydd Myfyr; entry is available on the day.

A 6 km fell race with 354 m of ascent on a new 2024 course, part of the Shropshire summer series. Entry is by pre-entry or on the day with fees of £7 and £10, and registration is near Pontesbury School.
