Canaqua Sports Mid-Summer Classic - Welland

The Canaqua Sports Mid-Summer Classic takes place on August 2, 2026 at the Welland Community Boathouse on the Welland Recreational Canal, 108 Thorold Road East, Welland, Ontario. The site combines open-water sections and canal-side trails used for running and swimrun transitions.

The event program includes open-water swimming, a Mudskipper SwimRun and trail runs. The open-water swim uses a 2.0 km diamond loop; swimmers complete 1, 2 or 5 loops for the available distances. Open-water participation is open to ages 12 and up.

The Mudskipper SwimRun runs on a new approximately 11 km route and features both individual and relay divisions. The swimrun includes multiple swim and run stages, with all transitions located near the dock area. The relay format pairs one swimmer and one runner.

A new Midsummer Trailrun offers a 5 km course; participants may run one lap for 5K or two laps for 10K along the canal shore. Event materials include guidance on swimrun equipment: wetsuits are optional for most entries, swim caps will be provided and advice is offered on shoes, paddles and flotation aids such as pull buoys.
