Beast of Burden - Summer

Beast of Burden - Summer is an ultra running event in Lockport, NY held along the historic Erie Canal towpath. Athletes can choose from the following distances:

  • 100 Mile
  • 50 Mile
  • 25 Mile

The event begins at Wide Water’s Marina, where participants have access to showers, restrooms and an on-site aid station. Runners follow a paved trail for approximately 1 mile, cross the canal on one of Lockport's historic draw bridges, then continue on the Erie Canal towpath.

The course is served by multiple aid stations. After leaving the marina, athletes reach another fully stocked aid station at about 6 miles, then continue roughly 5.5 miles to the Village of Middleport where a third aid station and the turnaround are located. Aid stations are staffed by volunteers and offer fluids and solid foods, including Heed, water, coffee, Coke, gels, grilled cheese sandwiches, chicken broth, pizza, pancakes and donuts.

A Double Beast Buckle is available to 100 mile participants who finish both the Winter Beast 100 and the Summer Beast 100 within the same calendar year. Registration closes on Monday, August 10 at 11:59 PM ET. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
