The Summer Beast of Burden is an ultramarathon held in Lockport, NY. Athletes may enter one of three distances:
- 100 Miler
- 50 Miler
- 25 Miler

Course and aid stations
The race starts at Wide Water’s Marina, where runners have access to showers, restrooms and an aid station. The course follows a paved trail for about 1 mile, then crosses the canal via one of Lockport’s historic draw bridges and continues along the Erie Canal Towpath.
A fully stocked aid station appears at about 6 miles, offering shade and refreshments. A third aid station is located after another 5.5 miles in the Village of Middleport, which acts as a turn-around point on the route. Aid stations provide drinks and a selection of food items including Heed, water, coffee, Coke, gels, grilled cheese sandwiches, chicken broth, pizza, pancakes and donuts.
Other notes
There is a Double Beast Discount and a special "Double Beast Buckle" awarded to any 100 mile participant who finishes both the Winter Beast 100 and the Summer Beast 100 in the same calendar year.
