Beast of Burden - Summer
The event takes place in Lockport, NY, along the historic Erie Canal towpath. Athletes choose one of the following distances:
- 100 Miler
- 50 Miler
- 25 Miler
The race starts at Wide Water's Marina, where participants have access to showers, restrooms and an on-site aid station. Runners follow a paved trail for about 1 mile, cross the canal on one of Lockport's historic draw bridges, and then continue along the Erie Canal towpath.
The course reaches a second fully stocked aid station at approximately 6 miles, offering a shaded area. Another 5.5 miles leads to the Village of Middleport, where a third aid station is located and runners turn around. Aid stations are staffed by volunteers and provide a range of foods and drinks, including Heed, water, coffee, Coke, gels, grilled cheese sandwiches, chicken broth, pizza, pancakes, and donuts.
The event includes a Double Beast Buckle award for any 100 mile participant who finishes both the Winter Beast 100 and the Summer Beast 100 in the same calendar year. Registration for the event closes on Mon, Aug 10 at 11:59 PM ET. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
