Each burro racer must provide their own donkey. Humane treatment is required; striking, dragging, or mistreating burros leads to disqualification. All burros must wear a pack saddle equipped with a shovel, pick, and pan; that gear must be safely attached to the saddle. Maximum rope length is 15 feet. Jacks must be controlled in the presence of female burros. Burros may not carry their racer; racers may attempt to carry their burro. Water stations will be available.
The event coincides with Burney Basin Day festivities, including a craft fair, a parade, and fireworks on the following day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
