Burney Basin Days is a trail running event in Burney, CA, organized by Intermountain Endurance and scheduled for July 3, 2026. The course uses part of the Historic Great Shasta Rail Trail and includes multiple distances and a burro race.

All distances start at the same location, given by coordinates 40.92845, -121.64423. Directions note: take Black Ranch Road from Highway 299 for about 2 miles; the start is where the rail trail crosses Black Ranch Road on the right.

Racers who wish to run with a burro must arrange a burro prior to race day; rentals may be arranged in advance. Burro rules require humane treatment and a pack saddle equipped with a shovel, pick, and pan. Maximum rope length is 15 feet. Jacks must be controlled in the presence of female burros. Burros may not carry their racer; racers may attempt to carry their burro. Water stations will be available.

Registration opened February 1, 2026. Fees are listed from $28.50 to $38.50 USD and registration closes July 2, 2026 at 11:59 PM PT.
