- Burro race
Burro racers must provide their own burro; rentals must be arranged prior to race day if a racer does not own a burro. Burros must wear a pack saddle equipped with a shovel, pick, and pan, and the gear must be safely attached. Maximum rope length is 15 feet. The rules emphasize humane treatment of burros; striking, dragging, or mistreating burros will lead to disqualification. Burros may not carry their racer, and racers are permitted to attempt to carry their burro. Water stations will be available along the course.
The event is part of the Burney Basin Day festivities. After the run, the town hosts a craft fair, a parade, and fireworks the following day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
