Event Overview
The Burney Mountain 100 is a long-distance trail race located in Cassel, California. Organized by Intermountain Endurance, the event takes place within the Lassen National Forest, the Burney Basin, and the Thousand Lakes Wilderness. The route is designed as a single loop that begins and ends at the Burney Mountain Guest Ranch.
The course features approximately 15,000 feet of cumulative elevation gain. Runners navigate a variety of terrains, including rocky ridgelines, forest floors, and high-country slopes. The scenery includes views of Mount Lassen, Mount Shasta, and the Hat Creek Rim. Because the race takes place in mountain terrain, the organizer utilizes four potential course variations (Courses A, B, C, and D) depending on seasonal snowmelt and safety conditions in the high country.

Participant Requirements
Participants must adhere to specific requirements to compete. Runners are required to download the provided GPX file onto a watch or phone for navigation. Additionally, this is a cup-less event, meaning participants must bring their own reusable cups for hydration. Starting in 2027, all runners must complete either eight hours of trail work or twelve hours of race volunteer service prior to the event.

The Burney Mountain Guest Ranch serves as the central hub for the event. Registered runners and their crews have access to complimentary dry camping at the ranch on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. The ranch also features amenities such as a restaurant, saltwater pool, and laundry facilities.
