Great Shasta Rail Trail Run, March 27, 2027
The Great Shasta Rail Trail Run takes place in Burney, California on March 27, 2027. The event offers three distances:
- 50K
- 30K
- 10K
All courses are out and back on mostly flat trail with good footing. Each distance has a 12 hour cutoff. The 30K and 50K routes reach the Stand By Me Bridge, and the 50K includes a rugged creek scramble section. The race begins and ends at the Great Shasta Rail Trail trailhead in Burney; parking is available at the trailhead and porta potties will be provided.
Aid stations appear approximately every 3 to 6 miles and are stocked with electrolytes, traditional runner snacks, and ice. Water drops are used in hot years. All finishers receive a medal; runners also receive a race shirt and a post race meal. Packet pick up occurs on race morning and there is a race briefing shortly before the start.
The event benefits the Great Shasta Rail Trail to support its preservation and accessibility. Registration opens October 1, 2026. Swag deadline is April 15, 2027. The race has a no refund policy with options to defer registration up to one week before race day or transfer registration up to one day before race day.
