Buffalo Trace Trail Race

The Buffalo Trace Trail Race is a trail running event held at Lake of the Woods Forest Preserve in Mahomet, Illinois. The event features an approximately 5 miles course that runs on wooded trails and through prairie. It is organized by the Second Wind Running Club and is part of the club's race circuit.

Online registration is available through race day and the listed registration fee is $30. A percentage of the race proceeds and all race donations will be donated to the Forest Preserve Friends Foundation.

Parking for the event is available only at Mahomet-Seymour High School, 302 W State St., Mahomet. The race start and finish are a short walk north of the high school at the Lake of the Woods Forest Preserve west parking lot off Crowley Road. Pets and running strollers are not permitted in the race. Packet pickup takes place on race day in the high school parking lot.
