Rattlesnake Master Run for the Prairie

The 28th annual Rattlesnake Master Run for the Prairie is a community race that benefits Grand Prairie Friends, an accredited non-profit land trust and conservation group in central Illinois. The event takes place at Meadowbrook Park in Urbana and circles the park and adjacent prairie, covering a route that includes trail running around a 130-acre area.

The event program includes multiple in-person and virtual options and provides race medals, optional t-shirts, music, and volunteers. Online registration opens August 18 and in-person registration is available on race day. Online registration for standard entries closes October 19; virtual entries are accepted through November 1. T-shirt orders require registration by October 18.

Packet pickup is available the day before the event at Body n' Sole, 1317 Dunlap, Savoy, IL, and also on race day at the Garden Pavilion in Meadowbrook Park near the Race Street Parking Lot. Parking instructions and a map are provided by the organizer.

Trail runs nearby

Experience the 46th annual trail run through Kickapoo State Recreation Area featuring a scenic pond loop and a longer 95 percent trail course with creek crossings and steep hills.

A fall event at Allerton Park featuring a 5.7 mile trail run, a 2 mile nature walk, and a virtual 5.7 mile option. The riverside course has roots, ruts, and sharp turns, with awards, costume prizes, and park donations.
