The Allerton Park Trail Run takes place on October 25, 2026, at Robert Allerton Park and Retreat Center in Monticello, IL. The event offers three options:

  • 5.7 Mile Trail Run
  • 2 Mile Nature Walk
  • VIRTUAL 5.7 Mile Trail Run

A large portion of the 5.7-mile course follows the Sangamon River. Runners may encounter hidden roots, ruts, sharp turns, and other trail obstacles. The race finishes in a meadow. The 2-mile nature walk is non-competitive and will not receive awards.

Participation and logistics

A portion of race proceeds is donated to Allerton Park for trail maintenance and park enhancements, including a railing, erosion control, recycle bins, a bottle-filling water station, and a new café in the visitor center. The 5.7-mile trail run presents awards for overall top male, top female, top male masters, and top female masters. Age group awards are given for top three male and female finishers in these groups: 19 and under; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70+. Door prizes and costume contest prizes will be awarded. Virtual results can be entered from October 25, 2026 through October 31, 2026. Deadline to register to guarantee a race shirt is October 14, 2026. Volunteers are requested, and dogs are not allowed on the trails. Registration closes on race day at 8:30 am. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.

Run scenic trails and roads at the Allerton Races in Monticello on April 11 and 12 with in person and virtual half marathon, 10K and 5K options. Proceeds benefit Robert Allerton Park and Make A Wish Illinois.

Hit the fast rolling Sand Creek trails near Decatur with 4.4 or 7.6 mile options, in person or virtual. Enjoy a technical long sleeve shirt, finisher medal and snacks while supporting the Special Operations Warrior Foundation.
