Course and history

Runners compete on Antelope Island with views of the Great Salt Lake. The course features rolling singletrack through desert grasslands and has had wild bison present on the route. The race began in 2006 with about 150 runners in the 25K and 50K fields and has since expanded to include a 50-mile distance. A previously held 100-mile distance has been moved to the Fall Classic on Saturday, October 10, 2026. The park has increased participant and special-use permit fees to support wildlife research, animal care, and construction of a new visitor center.
