Brush Mountain Breakdown Trail Race
The Brush Mountain Breakdown Trail Race takes place on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at the Pandapas Pond upper parking lot in the Jefferson National Forest near Blacksburg, VA. The event is presented by Roots Realty Group and is the ninth event in the RunAbout Sports 2025 Race Series. The race program includes these distances:
- 12 Mile Trail Race
- 7 Mile Trail Race
- 5K Trail Race
Course and event details
All races start and finish at the Pandapas Pond upper parking lot and follow the Pandapas Pond trail system. Courses are primarily single-track trails with limited sections of forest fire roads. Runners will encounter climbs, descents, technical terrain, and creek crossings with water reported as less than knee deep. Aid stations are provided on the 7 mile and 12 mile routes; the 7 mile route has one aid station at about 2.5 miles, and the 12 mile route has aid stations at about 2.5, 4.5, 5.8, and 9 miles. The 5K route does not include an aid station.
Packet pickup is available at RunAbout Sports on 10/24 and at Pandapas Pond on race day. Long-sleeve participant shirts are guaranteed for registrations completed on or before Sunday, October 12; later registrants may select from remaining sizes while quantities last. Finishers of any distance receive a commemorative medal. Overall awards are given to the top three men and women for each distance. Age group awards are given to the first finisher in each listed age group for the 7 and 12 mile races; there are no age group awards for the 5K.
