The Frozen Toe 10k is the 17th edition of this trail race, scheduled for Saturday, January 10, 2026 in Roanoke, VA. The event includes an in-person 10k race, a virtual run option, and a bundle option tied to the RNUTS series. The event headquarters is New Hope Christian Church at 4229 Welcome Valley Road, Roanoke, VA 24014. A snow date is planned for January 17, 2026 at Moneta Park if the National Park Service permit is canceled.
Course and logistics
The race uses the Chestnut Ridge Loop Trail, a 5.6 mile single-track loop around the Roanoke Mountain Campground. The course starts at the New Hope Christian Church parking area, follows Welcome Valley Road to a turnaround, then enters the Chestnut Ridge Loop before returning on Welcome Valley Road to the church finish. There is one on-course water/Gatorade stop at mile 3.4. Walkers are welcome.
Registration and packet pickup
Registration fees change by date: $35 until November 30; $40 from December 1 to December 9; $45 from December 10 to January 8; higher late-entry fees apply if space remains. A virtual entry option is listed at $25. Packet pickup is scheduled in the days before the race at local locations, and morning pickup is available at the event headquarters on race day. A course briefing is held on race morning.
Rules and awards
Dogs are not permitted. Bibs must be worn on the front and remain visible. Amplified music or Bluetooth speakers are not allowed on the course; personal headphones are permitted if participants remain aware of surroundings. Stewards will mark the trail with flags and enforce no short cutting. Awards go to the top three male and female finishers, first male and female 40+, and medals are given to the top three in 13 age groups.
