The Brookhaven Trail 15K and 4 Mile Trail Run is scheduled for a Sunday in April. Two trail running events are available:

  • Brookhaven Trail 15 K
  • Brookhaven Trail 4 Mile Trail Run

Location and Course

The races start near the entrance to Brookhaven State Park, off William Floyd Parkway in Wading River, New York. The course runs through the park and features a variety of trail conditions, including single-track, fire trails, sandy sections, and areas near hidden ponds. It travels through woodlands in Suffolk County.

Event Details and Policies

This is a cupless race. Participants must bring their own hydration belt or reusable cup. A BPA-free silicone cup can be added to registration or purchased on the day of the event for $5.

Due to its popularity, the total event is capped at 250 participants.

Awards and Amenities

Awards are given for each race distance.

  • Top three overall male and female finishers.
  • Top three males and females in multiple age groups, ranging from 14 and under to 85+.

Amenities include high-quality dry-fit t-shirts for participants who pre-register by a specific date in April, post-race refreshments, and a post-race awards ceremony.

Community Initiatives

The event supports fundraising for Team Red, White and Blue, a charity that assists wounded veterans. Participants are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for donation to Island Harvest food bank. Those who donate a food item are entered into a raffle for a free race entry. Test your endurance at Sunken Meadow State Park with 1 hour or 3 hour timed challenges on a 1.4 mile loop. Complete the most distance to be crowned the King or Queen of the hill.

Run or walk through 50 acres of beautiful vineyards in Peconic for a chip timed 5K event. Participants receive a finisher medal that doubles as a wine stopper and a celebratory pour of wine at the finish line.

Experience the scenic trails of Heckscher State Park in this perimeter loop race offering 7 and 14 mile distances. Enjoy a cupless event with wooden medals and unique bucket hats for all finishers.

The Bimbler's Bash is a popular annual 10K trail run through the technical, rocky paths of Guilford's Westwoods. This entirely off-road event supports local land conservation and is known as a major single-distance race in Connecticut.
