About the race
The Witching Hours is a trail event held on the Manorville Hills section of the Paumanok Path on Long Island, New York. The course uses a 5K loop with pine-lined woods, soft needle-covered paths, rolling hills, and about 270 feet of elevation gain per loop. The loop is described as runnable and accessible for newcomers while providing sustained elevation for more experienced trail runners.
Event options include:
- 3 hour option
- 6 hour option
- 12 hour option
- 24 hour option
The event provides one well-stocked aid station located at the start and finish of the loop and a post-race meal. A choice of shirt size and finisher medals is guaranteed for entrants who register by September 26; items after that date are on a first come, first served basis. A large covered area will be available for runners to leave belongings; individual tents are not permitted. Organizers will host two training runs on the course in October and November. A portion of event proceeds will be donated to the Long Island Greenbelt Trail Conference. The organizers describe the event as intended to be a welcoming, safe, and supportive space that honors a friend who inspired the race.
