Brokenagan Backyard Ultra

Vernon, Canada • 25 Jul 2026

Event overview

The Brokenagan Backyard Ultra and 24-Hour Endurance Run takes place in Silver Star Provincial Park near Vernon, BC on July 25, 2026. The venue is at about 5,500 feet on the cross-country ski trails of Sovereign Lake Nordic Club. Event formats include a 24-hour solo endurance run, a 24-hour 2-person team relay, and a Backyard Ultra format.

Course and race formats

The course is a loop of 4.17 miles on single and double track trails with a mix of hard pack and grassy surfaces. The loop passes through forest, open meadows, marshy lowlands, and by a mountain lake.
The Backyard Ultra requires one loop every hour; a runner who misses the start of the next loop is out. The last runner to complete a solo loop is the winner; if no runner completes more loops than the others, there is no winner. The 24-hour formats ask participants to complete as many loops as they can within 24 hours. Relay teams register as two-person teams with each member paying individually.

Entry, support, and facilities

Early registration through UltraSignup is listed at $100 CAD per runner until Jan 31, 2026. T-shirt guarantee is an extra $30 and a meal option is an extra $20. GST and processing fees are not included. Participants must be 18 or older on race day; minors may participate with prior permission from the Race Director. Aid stations are available each lap with water, electrolytes, snacks, and first aid. The staging area offers space for aid tents, massage therapy, sponsor expo, and professional timing.
