Brokenagan Backyard Ultra and 24‑Hour Endurance Run

Brokenagan takes place July 25–26, 2026 at Silver Star Provincial Park, Sovereign Lake Nordic Centre. The event includes two loop-based formats: a Backyard Ultra and a separate 24-hour endurance race.

The Backyard Ultra requires completing a roughly 4.17-mile (6.7 km) loop every hour, on the hour, until only one runner completes a loop alone. Competitors must be in the starting corral at the bell, no pacing or outside assistance is allowed during a loop, and leaving the staging area except to run a loop counts as withdrawal. This edition is a Bronze Medal Event for the 2025 season; the winner’s result is entered on the Canadian national leaderboard and considered for Team Canada selection.

The 24-hour endurance race gives runners 24 hours to complete as many loops as possible on a separate course. It accepts solo entries and team relay entries; only one team member may be on course at a time. Outside support on the loop is not permitted. The event is cupless so participants must bring their own cup. Water and electrolytes are provided for the duration; food service is available until 3:00 PM.

A spacious staging area accommodates personal 10x10 aid tents. Mandatory and recommended gear includes a headlamp for night loops and basic safety items. Environmental protection rules require staying on trail and avoiding litter. Specific race rules, crew limits, and refund policies apply.
