BRADBURY SCUFFLE

The Bradbury Scuffle is a six mile trail race that begins the Bradbury Mountain Trail Race Series in Pownal, Maine. The course runs on a mix of single and double track trails with a few rolling hills and classic Bradbury terrain; it is distinct from road running and is described as runnable trail.

The race uses a fixed cutoff of 1 hour 48 minutes, equivalent to an 18 minute per mile pace. Each race in the series is capped at 160 runners; there is no wait list, no bib number transfers, and no same day registration. Limited parking is noted at Bradbury Mountain State Park.

All registered runners receive a custom race T shirt at bib pickup; shirts are distributed in person at check in and runners must be present to receive theirs. The first overall male and female finishers choose first from the prize table. Additional prizes are awarded by random drawing among winners of each decade age group.

The Scuffle is part of a series that awards a Bad Ass Hoodie to runners who complete four races within the cutoff times; hoodies are distributed after the fourth qualifying race. Trail Monster Running organizes the event as a nonprofit with unpaid volunteers, directs proceeds toward race equipment and local outdoor nonprofits, and donates any leftover shirts or hoodies to local homeless shelters.
