Bradbury Scuffle

The Bradbury Scuffle is a trail running event held at Bradbury Mountain State Park in Pownal, Maine. This race serves as the opening event for the Bradbury Mountain Trail Race Series. The course covers a distance of 6 miles and features a combination of single-track and double-track trails. Participants can expect terrain consisting of rolling hills characteristic of the local landscape.

The event is organized by Trail Monster Running, a non-profit organization managed by volunteers. Registration for the race is strictly capped at 180 runners to manage parking limitations and ensure runner safety. There is no waiting list, and bib transfers or same-day registrations are not permitted. All registered participants receive a custom race T-shirt with a unique annual design, which is distributed during bib pickup on the morning of the event.

A time limit is enforced for the race, with a cutoff set at 1 hour and 48 minutes, which requires a pace of 18 minutes per mile. The event is dedicated to the memory of Chris Douglass, a local runner and adventurer.

Awards are provided for the first overall male and female finishers. Additionally, prizes are distributed through random drawings among the winners of various decade-based age groups. Runners who finish all four races in the Bradbury Mountain Trail Race Series within the required cutoff times are eligible for an series-specific hoodie. Overall series champions for both male and female categories receive handcrafted furniture. Proceeds from the event, after operating costs, are donated to local non-profit organizations, such as the Royal River Conservation Trust.
