Box Hill Vertical KM

This is a guided trail run that focuses on sustained climbing around Box Hill and the surrounding area. The planned route is approximately 12.5 miles long and is designed to gain about 1000 metres of elevation over a relatively short distance. The route does not include hill repetitions.

The course explores less frequented hilly trails through woodland, heathland and open fields. Some climbs are technical and may require scrambling on hands and knees. The group will move at a steady, non-competitive pace, often hiking steeper sections and pausing at the top of climbs as needed.

Participants should be comfortable maintaining an average trail pace of around 10 min per mile (6:15 min per km) for prolonged periods to get the most from the session. Faster runners should expect some sections at an easier social pace. A full kit list and further logistical information will be provided in advance.

Meet location is Stepping Stones Car Park, Box Hill, Dorking, Surrey. Parking is available and the start is a short run or taxi ride from a nearby train station. Dates listed include Saturday 5 December 2026, Saturday 2 May 2027 and Saturday 4 December 2027. Entry cost is £29 per person. The guide is an experienced trail and ultra runner, mountain leader, qualified guide and coach who will lead the group. An alcohol free beer may be offered at the end subject to availability.
