Boulder Field 100
The Boulder Field 100 takes place in Hickory Run State Park near Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania. It features three distances: 100 km, 50K, and an 18 Miler. The event is scheduled for September 12, 2026.
The course is described as a "mid-level difficulty" trail run. The 100 km and 50K events consist of a 50K loop that runners complete once or twice. About 90% of the route is on single-track hiking trails and multi-use paths, with approximately 1 mile on gravel road. Key terrain features include a boulder field crossing and a rugged 1-mile section known as the Shades of Death Trail. The elevation gain is estimated at about 4,000 feet per 50K loop.
There is a 16-hour time limit for the 100K and a 14-hour limit for the 50K. Aid stations are placed approximately every 5-10 miles along the course, providing water, Gatorade, and snacks. Runners are recommended to carry at least 16 ounces of fluid between stations.
Bib pickup is available the day before the event and on race morning at a pavilion next to Sand Spring Lake within Hickory Run State Park. All finishers receive an award, with additional awards for top finishers overall and in age groups.
The organizer notes that this event is more challenging than their other trail races but is designed to be accessible to properly trained runners. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
