Wild Earth Border Bolt

The Wild Earth Border Bolt is a trail and road running event held in Currumbin on the Gold Coast, staged on a Sunday in August. The course departs from Currumbin Creek and moves into the hinterland hills, using the Border Trails which include twists, turns, rises and descents that provide ocean views. The event uses an out and back format.

The Border Bolt offers multiple distances with increasing trail and hill content as distance increases. In 2026 the event is the second round of the Trail Trips Triple Crown series, which pairs this race with In the Raw and the Wild Earth Coastal High events. The Triple Crown has both Short Course and Long Course series with specific distance requirements for each series.

Distances offered:

  • 6.6 km - entirely on pavement
  • 13.5 km - some trail sections
  • 22 km - primarily trail running
  • 31 km - longer trail route including Strawberry Hill

Entries open February 1, 2026. The Border Bolt is presented as one round within the broader Trail Trips event program and is linked to other regional trail races in the Triple Crown series. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
