Bold Coast Bash : Cutler, ME

Bold Coast Bash is a trail running event on the Cutler Bold Coast featuring a technical figure eight loop that runs along coastal cliffs and inland through muddy single track. The course includes rocky sections, roots, slippery bog bridging, and unfenced cliff tops. Each lap is about 16.7 km (10.4 miles) and the figure eight has a short middle section that is run twice per lap. Runners must return to the Start/Finish area at the end of each lap and have their lap progress noted by the Start/Finish marshal.

Distances:

  • 50K Ultra
  • 10.5 Mile Fun Run

The event limits entrants in each race to protect fragile ecosystems and to reduce trail congestion; when capacity is reached wait lists open automatically and spots are offered by sign-up order. There is no day of registration; only bib pick-up is available. Entry fee is $45. The only aid is at the Start/Finish area; there are no aid stations on course so runners must be self-supporting for each lap. Drop bags, chairs and small pop-up tents may be left at the Start/Finish area.

Time limits include 6.5 hours to complete the first two laps and a 10.5 hour overall course limit. Mandatory kit is checked before each lap and includes a windproof or waterproof jacket, warm mid layer, warm head covering, warm gloves, foil blanket, whistle, at least 200 calories of instant energy and a headlamp for the third lap. Live race tracking is available through the timing app but requires cell service. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
