Bold Coast Bash - Cutler, Maine
The Bold Coast Bash stages trail races on the Cutler coast with two main distances:
- 50K Ultra - three laps of the figure 8 course, about 16.7 km per lap
- 10.5 Mile Fun Run - single loop of the Bash figure 8 course
The course runs along coastal cliffs and inland trail sections and includes slippery rocks, roots, mud, bog bridging and unfenced cliff tops. Bog bridging can be unstable or broken in places and may present hazards such as exposed nails. All turns and junctions are marked with blue surveyor flags.
Runners must be self supported on the course; the only aid station is at the Start/Finish area. Mandatory equipment is checked at the start of each lap and includes a windproof or waterproof jacket, warm mid layer, warm head covering, warm gloves, a foil blanket, a whistle, at least 200 calories of instant energy, and a headlamp for the third lap. Drop bags, chairs and small pop-up tents may be left in the Start/Finish area.
Entrants are capped to protect fragile ecosystems; when capacity is reached a wait list opens automatically. There is no day of registration and bib pick-up only. Entry fee is $45. Registration opens on August 1, 2026 at 7:00 AM ET. Runners have 6.5 hours to complete the first two laps and a total course time limit of 10.5 hours.
The event acknowledges that it takes place on ancestral Wabanaki lands and offers a 50% entry discount to Indigenous runners. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
