The Bold Coast Bash in Cutler, ME features two race distances:

  • 50K Ultra
  • 10.5 Mile Fun Run

The ultra is run as three laps of a figure-8 course; each lap is about 16.7 km (10.4 miles). The fun run is one loop of the same figure-8 course. Entrants are capped to protect fragile ecosystems; wait-lists open automatically when a race fills. There is no day-of registration and entry is listed as $45. Registration opens on August 1, 2026. Drop bags, chairs, and small pop-up tents may be left in the Start/Finish area.

Course, safety and rules

The single-track trail runs along coastal cliffs and inland sections with rocks, roots, mud, bog bridging, and unfenced cliff tops. Course turns and junctions are marked with blue surveyor flags. The only aid station is at the Start/Finish area; runners must be self-supporting on course. Expected lap time is between 2 and 4 hours. Mandatory equipment is checked before the start and at the start of every lap and includes a windproof or waterproof jacket, warm mid layer, warm head covering, warm gloves, foil blanket, whistle, and at least 200 calories of instant energy. A headlamp is required when starting the third lap. Live race tracking is available via a timing app and requires cell service and continuous GPS on the runner's phone. Time limits: 6.5 hours to complete the first two laps and a total course time limit of 10.5 hours. The organizers offer a 50% entry discount to Indigenous runners.
