Bold Coast Bash
Cutler, United States • 8 Nov 2026
Event overview
Bold Coast Bash is a trail running event in Cutler, ME offering two distances:
- 50K Ultra
- 10.5 Mile Fun Run (about 16.7 km per lap)
The ultra is three laps of a figure-8 course; each lap is about 16.7 km (10.4 miles). Entrants are limited to protect fragile ecosystems; when capacity is reached a wait-list opens. There is no day-of registration and entry is $45. Registration opens on August 1, 2026 at 7:00 AM ET. The organizers do not normally issue refunds; entrants may defer to the next year through October 31 for 75% of the fee.
Course, safety, and logistics
The single-track course runs along coastal cliffs and inland through mud, rocks, roots, and bog bridging. Sections can be slippery, wobbly, or unstable; there are unfenced cliff tops. The only aid station is at the Start/Finish area, so runners must be self-supporting on the course. Mandatory equipment is checked at the start of each lap and includes a windproof or waterproof jacket, warm mid layer, warm head covering, warm gloves, foil blanket, whistle, at least 200 calories of instant energy, and a headlamp when starting the third lap. Cell coverage is spotty; live tracking via the timing app requires cell service and will update periodically. Drop bags and small pop-up tents are permitted in the Start/Finish area. Cocoa Mountain parking is available 600 metres north of the trailhead for up to 12 vehicles with no open fires and a portable toilet on site.
Time limits and records
Runners have 6.5 hours to complete the first two laps and a total course time limit of 10.5 hours. The event posts course records for each distance and maintains historical DNF rates for the 50K. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
