The Bold Coast Bash is a trail running event in Cutler, Maine offering the following distances:

  • 50K Ultra
  • 10.5 Mile Fun Run

The course is a figure-8 single track that includes coastal cliff sections and an inland stretch of mud, rocks, roots, bog bridges, and unstable boardwalk sections. Each lap is about 16.7 km (roughly 10.4 miles). The 50K is three laps and the Fun Run is a single lap. All course turns and junctions will be marked with blue surveyor flags.

Runners must be self-supporting on the course; the only aid station is at the Start/Finish area. Drop bags and small pop-up tents are permitted at Start/Finish. Mandatory equipment is checked at the start of each lap and includes a windproof or waterproof jacket, warm mid layer, warm head covering, warm gloves, a foil blanket, a whistle, at least 200 calories of instant energy, and a headlamp for the third lap. Expect each lap to take two to four hours.

Entrants are capped to protect fragile ecosystems; wait lists open automatically when a race fills. There is no day of registration; bib pick-up only. Entry fee is $45. Time limits include 6.5 hours to complete the first two laps and a total course time limit of 10.5 hours.
