Trail Running in the Boise Foothills

The Bogus 50/50 is a trail running event held in Boise, Idaho. The race utilizes the Ridge to Rivers trail network, featuring a course that consists almost entirely of single-track trails. Participants start and finish their runs at the Fort Boise parking lot, navigating through various sections of the local foothills and the Boise National Forest. The event is a green race, requiring participants to carry their own collapsible cups for use at aid stations.

The event offers three distinct distances:

• 50 Mile: Includes approximately 7600 feet of elevation gain on trails such as Dry Creek and Shingle Creek.
• 50K: Features approximately 4700 feet of elevation gain through the lower Boise Foothills.
• 27K: An out and back course with approximately 2300 feet of elevation gain.

Course time limits are enforced via hard cutoffs at specific aid stations for the longer distances. Specifically, the 50 Mile race has cutoffs at mile 24 and mile 43.75, while the 50K has a cutoff at mile 22. Runners are not permitted to use pacers for any of the distances. Registration is available in advance and on the day of the event. Packet pickup is organized at the Idaho Running Company in Boise during the days preceding the race, with a race-day pickup option available one hour before starts.
