Black Squirrel Half

Black Squirrel Half Marathon is a 13.5-mile trail race held in Lory State Park, Bellvue, Colorado, just northwest of Fort Collins. The course starts and finishes at the Soldier Canyon Picnic Area and traverses roughly 12 miles of dirt singletrack with one mile of dirt road. Runners ascend about 1,500 feet to a ridge near 7,000 feet, then descend to roll finish, for a total elevation change near 2,000 feet. The route offers sweeping views east toward Horsetooth Reservoir and the Great Plains, and west toward the Rocky Mountains.
