The Black Mountain Trail Races take place on June 20, 2026, at Black Mountain (Amat Kwanyil) in San Diego, California. The event includes three race distances:
- 50K - about 5,500 feet of elevation gain
- 25K - about 2,500 feet of elevation gain
- Half marathon - about 2,000 feet of elevation gain

Course and environment
The course runs on trails around an ancient extinct volcano and through open space that is Kumeyaay land. Vegetation includes chaparral, coastal sage scrub, manzanita-lined single-track, and laurel sumac. The terrain includes technical single-track and jeep trail, with rocky and steep sections. Wildlife noted on the course includes deer, bobcats, red diamond rattlesnakes, and occasional mountain lion. In 2025 the 50K course was modified to address a private property issue.
Support and affiliations
Aid stations are staffed by ham radio volunteers who relay runner and aid station information to race headquarters. The event follows Trail Sisters guidelines and is part of the SoCal UltraRunner’s Grand Prix. The race lists regional running groups and local sponsors among its supporters.
