The Black Mountain Trail Races take place on the trails of Amat Kwanyil (Black Mountain) in San Diego, California. The mountain is an ancient extinct volcano with historical significance as Kumeyaay land and the site of an abandoned arsenic mine.

The event offers three race distances:

Course Information

The courses run through chaparral and coastal sage scrub. The terrain features manzanita-lined single-track trails, jeep trails, and a mix of rocky, steep, and technical sections. The 50K course has approximately 5,500 feet of elevation gain. The 25K has around 2,500 feet of gain. The Half Marathon has about 2,000 feet of gain.
