Black Beacon Mountain Races
The Black Beacon Mountain Races are a series of linear long-distance mountain trail races. They cross from south to north through the Black Mountains and the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park in South Wales. The trails are described as fast and not overly technical, with relatively straightforward navigation.
Participants can choose from four race distances:
- Black Beacon 100 - 100 miles with over 7500m of ascent, from Hay-on-Wye to Pontneddfechan and back.
- Black Beacon 50 - 50 miles with over 3750m of ascent, from Pontneddfechan to Hay-on-Wye.
- Black Beacon South - 50 km with over 2200m of ascent, from Pontneddfechan to Llangynidr.
- Black Beacon North Trail Race - 21 miles with over 1200m of ascent, from Llangynidr to Hay-on-Wye.
The event offers support from volunteers and staff with well-stocked checkpoints along the courses. Runners have the option to add coach transport from the finish back to the start line when entering online. The event takes place from Hay-on-Wye in Wales.
